On July 22, 2007 at Schweitzer United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO during the 11AM service, God gave me closure to the childhood molestation I suffered at age 12.  Dr. Bob Cassidy, my pastor, was preaching a message about the incorporation of the Millenium Generation into our church.  He mentioned an event that had taken place in Los Angeles, CA  involving a court settlement of $600+ million dollars to 500 victims of clergy molestation.  He paused and very emotionally apologized to anyone who suffered molestation by any clergy member.  I took the apologry very personally and it reached deep into my heart.

As I was driving home I realized he was the only person I recall ever apologizing to me for what happened to me.   I accepted his apology on behalf of the priest (deceased) who molested me, on behalf of my parents (deceased) who did not pick up on the signs of the molestation (I don't blame them), and on behalf of the psychiatrists, counselors, and ministers I have talked to over the years.  I realized this is what I needed to bring closure to my suffering.

When I told him how grateful I was, he told me he was grateful as well , but he had not planned the apology.  We both knew The Holy Spirit had spoken through him directly to me bringing complete healing and complete closure after 53 years.
