In the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen Covey states one of the habits is to "start with the end in mind".  Start with the end in mind then come back to the present and establish a plan to accomplish it.  This is an awesome task.

The mission of The Genesis Project is to provide a source of encouragement, support, fellowship, and guidance for those who are seeking to change their lives for the better.  A place where one can come any time of the day or night, 24/7, and find a friend.  Being alone is one thing but loneliness is an entirely different matter.  Most addicts spiral into the depths of despair when they isolate.  The Genesis Project's goal is to discourage isolation.

I once saw a church sign that said, "God accepts you exactly the way you are but He loves you too much to leave you that way".  This mirrors the attitude of The Genesis Project, a fellowship of recovering addicts.  We accept who you are and where you are but we want to help you escape the trap and change your life through Jesus Christ.

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps", Proverbs 16:9 (NIV), is the basis for The Genesis Project's mission plan.

It is difficult to write a mission statement about a vision that is from God with the development of it in His hands.

As Proverbs 16:9 is the beginning of the process of developing a vision, Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) is the ending - "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails".

The Genesis Project is about doing the purpose of God.
