I was doing a reading in Hope for Today published by AL-ANON Family groups and was greatly impressed by these words:

"I do what is in my power to do.  I am given the opportunity, desire, ability, and time to do whatever God assigns me, one day at a time.  If I lack any of these four things, then I need to humbly let go and accept my limitations."

Whenever something really grabs my mind, I try to remember it in a format that will stick with me.  In this case I rearranged the words opportunity, desire, ability, and time to time, opportunity, ability, and desire.  I then made it into an acrostic taking the first letter of each word that spells TOAD.  I can remember one word easier than four.  I won't forget this.

I kept thinking about this and when I did my daily (almost daily) writing to The Lord, I brought this up and asked Him if it applies to my relationship with Him.  He assured me that it does.  So, I wrote, there is something you have asked, rather told, me to do that I haven't done.  I have the time, opportunity, and ability, but I am lacking the desire.  I need you to give me the desire.

What He said grabbed me even more than what I read earlier.  He said, "This incorporates a second level of desire, Tom.  Sometimes the desire to do my will overrides the lack of desire to do a particular thing."  WOW!  Now I realize I have been missing the desire on two levels.  Then He said "I can help you with both, son.  This is something to write about isn't it?"  I agreed so I am sharing it with you.
