My Teachings

Dear fellow travelers,

What I am going to share with you is deeply personal.  I keep a journal of many of my conversations with God.  I started this in March 2004.  I usually say something like "I wish I had done this years ago" but I now know everything is in God's timing.  I love the statement "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear".   I do not write in my journal every day and not all of my writing is done in my journal.  Sometimes I type in my word processor.  Where I write is not important.  Writing is my most affective way of communicating with God.

Some of what I am going to share with you are things I have written verbatim from a very small portion of these conversations.  Others are experiences I have had when God has taught me living lessons.  Some are things I have read and they have stuck with me.

One day when I was having a conversation with the Lord, He said, "Write.  Don't stop.  Communicate.“  I have been writing for a long time so I didn't really think too much about it.  A few days later He told me again to write.  This time I said okay, "You want me to write?“  He said, "Yes.  You have a lot to say.  It will help many".  I told Him I didn't know where to start or on what.  He said, "I will show you".  At that time I was working on the original design of this website and I felt I was doing a fair amount of writing so again I didn't change anything.

A few days later we were talking and I said, "This is so neat Lord.  I had no idea communicating with you could be like this".  (I have been a Christian since Dec. 13, 1970).  He said, "Share it".  This section of the website is my attempt to follow His command.

Since then I have started writing my life story, not for publication but as a process of recovery, I have experienced a lot in my life (born 2/2/42).  I was raised in an alcoholic home.  I was sexually abused by a Catholic priest at age 12.  The details are deeply personal and I share them as He prompts me.  During this walk through my life in recovery, I have learned a few things that have made a difference in how I think and ultimately act.  They are shared with you in the hope that they will help you as they have helped me.

I believe all of us are in some form of recovery.  None of us were raised by perfect parents, taught by perfect teachers, or attended perfect churches.

I pray your journey in recovery is as rewarding as mine has been.

Your fellow traveler,

Tom
